About Our Team
Dr. Nicole Wax
Popularly known as “your community orthodontist,” Dr. Wax has a passion for creating amazing smiles along with giving back to her community. She opened her practice in 2014 in the Fenton/Linden community because it was important to her to be close to family while proudly serving the community in which she grew up. Since her first practice in Linden, MI she has opened practices in Highland and Flushing.
Dr. Wax’s passion for orthodontics stems from her personal experience with braces as a teenager. She was very self conscious about her teeth, but after her orthodontic journey, her confidence significantly increased and to this day, she attributes that confidence to succeeding in dental school and life in general.
When Dr. Wax isn’t creating beautiful smiles; she loves to spend time outdoors with her fiance Ryan, son Oliver, daughter Everly and her two dogs Gypsy (the one eyed beagle) and Aussie (mini Australian Shepherd).

Dr. Jason Scherer
Dr. Scherer grew up in a small town in Northeast Ohio. After finishing college at Harvard University, he graduated at the top of his dental school class at the University of Michigan. During his orthodontic residency at the University of North Carolina, he studied under leading experts in the orthodontic field while learning the latest in orthodontic technologies. After practicing for 6 years near his home town in Ohio, Dr. Scherer and his wife decided to move back to Michigan to be closer to family.
When he isn’t practicing orthodontics, he enjoys spending time with family and friends. Dr. Scherer loves playing tennis, traveling, watching Michigan sports (Go Blue!), and spending time outdoors with his wife, Ellen, and two boys, Cameron and Jackson.

Dr. Kelly Pohlman
My name is Kelly Pohlman and I am an associate orthodontist at Dr. Wax Orthodontics in Linden, MI and Flushing, MI.
I started my journey to becoming an orthodontist when I was four years old and chipped a primary tooth. Looking back, I never knew that an accident from my childhood would impact my future and lead to my interest in oral health. Over the years, my dentist and I kept a watchful eye on my chipped tooth and when I was 12 years old, he decided it was time to have it extracted. Soon, my permanent tooth erupted but it came in crooked. To fix this imperfection, I required orthodontic braces. Little did I know, it was then that I would meet an orthodontist who would become one of the most influential people in my life. She gave me the opportunity to learn and work alongside her, which ignited my passion for orthodontics.
Growing up, I had the opportunity to live in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Missouri and Ontario, Canada and also spent time in Europe. With every move, I met a lot of new and diverse people in school, sports and the community. My teenage years were spent primarily in Milford, Michigan.
I attended Alma College and received my B.S. in Biology in 2011. In 2013, I received my M.S. in Molecular and Integrative Physiology from the University of Michigan. I obtained my Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry in 2017. I was awarded my Certificate in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics from the Georgia School of Orthodontics in 2022.
After graduating from dental school, I worked as a general dentist for two years. I wanted to practice dentistry to gain experience in private practice and to help my patients achieve dental health. However, even though I enjoyed working as a dentist, I still wanted to pursue my goal of becoming an orthodontist.
In my spare time I enjoy playing soccer, swimming, hiking and skiing. I also enjoy reading and traveling with my family. I have a five-year-old Springer Spaniel named Charlie who keeps me busy as well.
